How Lying Can Affect Someone
Telling lies is a risky thing to do. It can harm relationships by causing people to lose their trust in each other. It can give people the wrong information, which can be upsetting or dangerous even.
Lying is sometimes a good thing. It can be used to protect someone from the truth. For example, your mom might have told you when you were younger that if you don't eat your vegetables a ghost will come and haunt you. Thus, if your mom wouldn't have said that, you probably wouldn't have eaten your veggies.
Vanessa Van Edwards says, ´´ Researchers estimate the average person lies a minimum of once to twice per day.´´Not all of these lies are bad. Researchers say there are normal liars and prolific liars, Normal liars don't lie too often. The lies that they tell are mostly white lies. White lies are lies that can raise someone else's self confidence.
A prolific liar can harm someone with their lies. They can make someone insecure about themselves if they find out. For example, my teacher said that donkeys have five legs, so I write about it and it turns out to be a false statement. I could get a bad grade from that.
Telling all of these lies can lead to rumors. Telling rumors can affect the person that you are talking about in many ways. It might have not been your intention, but you told a lie.
So, should you lie or not?

I think this article was very well written, and I thought it was a very interesting topic. I did not know that people lie that often, Do you know what the most commonly said lie is?
ReplyDeleteThe most commly used lie is a white lie. For example, "You look great in that shirt!"
DeleteI like how you explain the different kinds of lies, and how certain lies can affect people. I personally don't have much of an opinion on lies, so I think you explained their effects well. What kinds of lies are simply harmless?
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Your blog was very well written, and I think the topic is interesting. I didn't know there were two types of lies. Are there any other types of lies, or is it just white and prolific?
ReplyDeleteI think you could divide the catigories up smaller, but in a broad case those are the two types of lies.
